Our Dusting Powders

We love our dusting powders, there isn’t much to formulating them, but it does takes a few tries to get the ratios just right and we think we have definitely managed it. Silky soft powder that leaves your skin smooth with just the right matte finish, we add just the tiniest bit of pearl mica powder that leaves the slightest hint of shimmer without being glittery and we also add some extra ingredients so that your powder can also perform as a deodorant as well.

Arrowroot Powder

Arrowroot is not just for moisture control but also considered “food for your skin” because it is a natural, nutrient-rich starch that nourishes, heals and protects the skin while improving the texture of personal care products. It is known for its ability to calm skin irritation, including rashes, acne and blemishes. It is an expert at absorbing excess oil and moisture, providing a matte, non-greasy feel to skincare products like lotions and body creams. It also gives a silky smooth texture without clogging pores. Being that it is a natural, organic starch, it feeds to skin with minerals and nutrients that support overall skin health.

Kaolin Clay

Is a gentle, mineral-rich clay known for its ability to cleanse and purify the skin without causing excessive dryness or irritation. It is considered one the gentlest clays making it suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. It helps to balance skin oil production by absorbing excess sebum and has natural anti-inflammatory properties that help to calm irritated skin. It can also help to treat acne as a spot treatment to reduce the size and redness of pimples. It also has the ability to aid in drawing out impurities from the skin.

Colloidal Oats

This is a highly beneficial ingredient because it functions as a potent, natural skin protectant, recognised mostly for its ability to soothe, moisturise and repair the skin barrier. It is particularly effective for sensitive, dry or eczema-prone skin due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It contains polyphenolic antioxidants, such as avenanthramides, which help to reduce inflammation and calm irritated, itchy skin. It also acts as a protective, breathable barrier on the skin’s surface, helping to lock in moisture and protect against environmental irritants. It is ideal for sensitive skin and has been recognised by the FDA as a safe, over-the-counter (OTC) skin protectant, it is clinically shown to improve skin barrier function, sometimes within 24 hours and significantly reduce itching.

Zinc Oxide

Is a highly effective ingredient due to its combination of soothing, protective and moisture-absorbing properties. It is often used to treat skin irritation and prevent chafing. It is renowned for its ability to calm irritated, chafed or inflamed skin and also acts as a drying agent that helps to absorb sweat and excess moisture, keeping skin dry and reducing the risk of further irritation or infection from severe chafing. It forms a barrier on the skin’s surface, which protects against friction (chafing) and external irritants. It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that help reduce redness and prevent infections and it safe for sensitive skin including conditions such as eczema or dermatitis

Triethyl Citrate

This ingredient acts as a highly effective, non-toxic and gentle deodoriser. It works by inhibiting the bacterial decomposition of sweat, which is the root cause of body odour, without effecting the skin’s natural, healthy microbiome. It specifically inhibits the esterase activity or bacteria that breaks down sweat in short-chain fatty acids and acts as a natural deodoriser, making it a really popular choice for those that prefer aluminum and talc free formulas. It acts as a liquid binder which enhances the skin-feel and helps to fix or stabilise fragrance allowing the scent to last longer. Triethyl citrate is derived from natural sources (citric acid and ethanol) and is totally biodegradable.

How to Use

You can apply dusting powder at any time, however it is perfect for after a shower or bath, ensure your skin is completely dry and either shake a small amount into your hand or dip your powder puff into the product and gently rub or pat the powder onto your skin. Focus on areas prone to sweating or chafing such as underarms, inner thighs, under the bust, back of the knees and the neck area. If you accidentally apply too much either use your puff to blend it out or simply use a clean dry towel and gently wipe away the excess before blending again.

This product is formulated without the inclusion of animal-derived ingredients, gluten, soy, parabens, artificial colourants 3[and]5, phthalates, PEG compounds, talc, sulphates, mineral oils, palm oil, microbeads or silicones. All of my formulas are made using biodegradable ingredients guaranteed cruelty free and only tested on us (or sometimes our neighbours) but never on animals.
