Our Perfume Oils
I like to smell nice.
So, when I decided to include perfumes/colognes into the product range I went researching and what I found out kinda turned me off perfume. Most perfumes are made using what they call Perfumers Alcohol which is basically just ethanol that has been treated (or denatured) in order to make it fit for human use. So next time we complain about the cost of fuel we could just go dump some Dior in the tank and see how many kilometres we get, at least our exhaust fumes would smell nice! The ethanol dissolves the oils in the bottle so they don’t separate and once applied onto the skin, the alcohol evaporates leaving behind the fragrance.
I don’t really love the idea of using that on my skin so I went looking for another solution that will still allow me to smell lovely all day long without the chemicals. My solution? Fractionated Coconut Oil. It’s made by separating the different types of fats in regular coconut oil and what remains are two medium-chain fatty acids. It doesn’t leave a greasy feel or stain clothing and it what is called a ‘dry oil’, meaning the fractionation process has left behind an oil so light that it almost immediately sinks into the skin.
I went out and bought a bottle to test my theory and low and behold it worked! It went on super easy without a whole heap of overspray and rubbed in almost immediately, the fragrance lasted all day and I could still smell it when I hopped into the shower that night; I’d put it on at 7:45am that morning and jumped in the shower at 8:30pm before putting on my PJs that night. I was impressed. I wore it for a whole week and the results were consistent regardless of what I was up to during each day.
Thus, my perfume and cologne oils were created…
How to Use:
Apply to pulse points: Perfume oils last longer when applied to areas like the wrists, neck, inner elbow, and behind the ears. The heat from these areas helps release the fragrance. Use a small amount: Perfume oils are highly concentrated, so start with a small quantity (1 spray) and add more if needed. A little goes a long way.
Ingredients
Parfum, Caprylic/capric triglyceride
This product is formulated without the inclusion of animal-derived ingredients, gluten, soy, parabens, artificial colorants 3 and 5, phthalates, PEG compounds, talc, sulfates, mineral oils, palm oil, or microbeads. All of our formulas are made using biodegradable ingredients guaranteed cruelty free and only tested on us (or sometimes our neighbours) but never on animals.
