Kakadu Plum Eye Balm (5g)

$19.95

When I sat down to formulate my original eye cream I followed the classic design concept and came up with a pretty fantastic end result, however as has always been the case I really like the results of what an eye cream can do but I find it too heavy despite the “lightness” of the ingredients and it always makes my skin feel a little too weighed down so it was back to the drawing board because I’m fairly sure it’s not just me that experiences that.

So, Eye Balm was born… Olive wax makes up a large part of this balm with the inclusion of beautiful soft butters (that are actually classified esters as opposed to oily, heavy butters) and fruit extracts that deliver key ingredients exactly where I need them in one quick “swipe”… It’s not heavy, it’s not greasy and blends into the delicate skin around your eyes so quickly you may actually forget you already put it on.

Don’t be deterred by the fact that it’s different, you won’t be disappointed trying something new… I promise.

Key Ingredients

Jojoba Butter

The benefits of this luxury ingredient include deep hydration, thanks to its similarity to the skin’s natural sebum, which helps to soften fine lines and reduce crepiness. It is also a potent antioxidant, rich in Vitamin E, that protects against sun and free radical damage contributing to a rejuvenated and brighter look. Its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties can reduce puffiness and redness while its ability to support the skin’s natural barrier helps prevent further moisture loss.

Aloe Vera Butter

Moisturises and reduces puffiness helping to prevent signs of aging like wrinkles and dark circles, thanks to its hydrating, anti—inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Olive Squalane

Olive Squalane is found in human sebum at a rate of 12% and is often referred to as “Nature’s Facelift,” it deeply hydrates and moisturises the skin helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by improving elasticity and supporting the skin’s natural lipid barrier. It is super light and non-greasy so it absorbs fast and doesn’t clog pores or weigh the skin down. It also offers antioxidant properties to protect against environmental damage.

Kakadu Plum Extract

Native to Australia Kakadu Plum benefits the eye area by reducing the appearance of fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. Thanks to it high Vitamin C content (the highest source of natural vitamin c on the planet) it stimulates collagen production and its antioxidant properties protect against damage and help to even skin tone. It also contains ellagic and gallic acid known for their skin-conditioning and anti-inflammatory abilities.

Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside

This lovely little ingredient is included as what is formally known as a solubiliser; it helps to mix a water-based extract into an oily base product. I chose this one however because it actually has extra benefits that contribute to the effectiveness of the eye balm. Made from renewable resources like coconut and sugar it is a plant-based, non irritating ingredient that is safe for the very delicate skin around the eyes and it also acts as a humectant helping to attract and retain moisture in order to plump the skin.

How to Use

An important note: you shouldn’t apply eye cream directly under the eye because the skin is extremely thin and delicate and can be easily irritated by products going into the eye itself or harsh rubbing from application. Instead it is best to apply eye products to the orbital bone (or cheek bone and eyebrow areaif you will) and use that as your guide to avoid any un-necessary irritation or accidental migration into the eye itself.

Simply wind the base of the tube to expose a small amount of product and gently glide over the skin following the orbital bone and gently using the pad of your ring finger lightly massage in avoiding pushing the product towards your eyelid or lower lash line.
