Toothpaste Powder
Toothpaste powder is simply just a powdered version of toothpaste that uses natural ingredients like baking soda, clay, calcium carbonate and essential oils to clean teeth and freshen breath. It’s an alternative to traditional toothpaste, applied by dipping a wet toothbrush directly into the powder before brushing.
A lot of modern toothpastes contain fluoride and a lot of people oppose the use of fluoride for it’s potential health effects. This is not something we are qualified to comment on and it is a personal preference however we created our formula based upon the concerns about ‘regular’ toothpaste including; potential damage from excessive fluoride consumption and abrasion, disruption of the oral microbiome by antibacterial agents, allergic reactions to ingredients like SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) and possible contamination with heavy metals. Some ingredients such as parabens and artificial sweeteners may have other potential health effects and children in particular are at risk for fluorosis from swallowing too much toothpaste, this can create white or brown spots on teeth and the possiblity of skeletal fluorosis which a more severe condition caused by long-term high intake in any age group and can affect bones and joints.
I would again like to reiterate that this is information you can find anywhere, however I am not qualified to make claims outside of the potential effects so please feel free to do your own research and decide if this is a change that you would like to make.
Our toothpaste powders are available in Classic and Charcoal versions. Our Charcoal Toothpaste contains Activated Charcoal which is a fine powder use to lift surface stains and make teeth look whiter.
How Do I Use It?
Run your toothbrush under running water and shake off excess, then dip your wet brush into toothpaste powder, a small amount is more than sufficient to get a really good clean. Brush your teeth and tongue for two minutes as you normally would. Spit the excess into the sink when you’re all done and rinse your mouth thoroughly with clean water. Do not swallow.
